So, I decided to sleep in late today.
I just ate a bowl of cereal, but it's 1:05 in the afternoon.
I wanted to share with you all a poem I've written a while back.
Hopefully you enjoy it. :)
Goodnight Moon.
Sit back think
Of how we were
8 years old
And immature
Dancing in the summer heat
Dirty hands and dirty feet
The little things seemed so grand
And I had nothing in my hand
I remember the starry nights
With no yelling and no fights
Time together tasted sweet
Sugary smiles in my teeth
Coloring books and finger paint stains
Listening to angels’ songs in the rain
I had joy not long ago
At 8 years old, I didn’t know
About war and guilt and pain and shame
Or making fun of others to dodge the blame
Just hugs and hearts and a big, fat grin
And “I Love You” again and again
Those words that are so soft and sweet
Come out when the sun and the moon meet
I wish those days would come back soon
But days go by, leaving the moon.
Goodnight moon.
I know, it needs work, but I am still glad that I wrote it. It is about growing up and seeing the world in different views than when reality sets in. I would really appreciate some comments and opinions of it, also.
